When I was studying at sichuan university, I faced insurmountable obstacle such as trying to understand why my roommate and friend Xiaodan wang would behave in certain way. She found a 2+2 program on the school’s bulletin board. I saw that the school university of Prince Edward Island was in Canada. I wasn’t that interested. But then we attended the q+a session. I changed my mind. She was excited. She said she already told her parents and decided she would leave for Canada on this exchange program. I told my parents as well. But at first my dad was against this idea telling me I could study abroad if I get in schools for a graduate degree. I cried alone at a corner of dorm building. I was scared to think how I would stay in China studying at sichuan university and Xiaodan wang would study abroad. I was scared of losing her as a friend. At the same time I was thinking about how she talked to me with already a high and mighty expression and haute behavior. It was shocking because I thought we were friends. Then something changed. My dad called me and agreed to let me go on that program to study abroad. I was shocked and immediately became excited. I told the news to Xiaodan wang. She looked shocked and immediately dropped her behavior. But since then we were awkward with each other. Before I left, the rest of our roommates told us one of them got diagnosed with leukemia, blood cancer. I was very shocked. I didn’t know what to say. I comforted her with words trying to encourage her to go get treatment. I didn’t feel any guilt to be honest. Because I knew I did what’s the best for everybody. I didn’t know her that well. But something about her told me she was calm and already had peace with the diagnosis. Then I left and came to Canada with Xiaodan Wang. Etc.
