I found out about Glossier through a review of the book Glossier about the Glossier and its founder on the New York Times. It was in 2023. I went to bought a lip balm from Glossier. It was berry flavoured. I used it to its very end. It kind of gets exploded in my bag. Recently, I bought a Glossier lip gloss. I went to their store in New York too. The packaging was slick. It reminded me of pencils. I splatter it on my lips generously. It felt glorious. It felt seen. I read the cut article about Glossier. It seemed to have fall off the cultural bandwagon after it went retail. But something about the Glossier still resonated with me. Its glossy showoff of an era or a decade prized self motivations and entrepreneurship. Everybody wants to sell their products. Everybody lean in. Everybody hopes for the best. It makes up a large share of the market with so simple a concept. I wonder whether it’s inspired by China and the coronavirus pandemic ensued right after the turbulent market shocks between 2018 and now. It kind of gives me a reason to dream. I felt a deep kinship with the brand’s message as a self-made person being in the world. Will Glossier be popular again? like ASAP? etc.
