I just finished the Wendy award, graphic novel. I found the ending a bittersweet goodbye to the past, to what works, to what worked. She left that award show with such unsaid emotion. It almost feel like her video was the advent of what’s to come. The book was surprisingly slim. But it said so much about artists in contemporary art world in Canada. It talked about heritage, racism and all sorts of hedonistic fun. It made me think about how people say goodbye to each other. How they leave. How they never look back. Etc.
