Birthday Fiasco

Recently I have been thinking about police as some sort of officials, bureaucrats and politicians. I saw them. And I took photographs. TIFF was here again. I saw lots of them when I visited. But I didn’t see any celebrities. And the Canadian prime minister was doing all sorts of things for getting investment to Canada. It looks like everybody is busy. Now the beeper upstairs beeped nonstop. I told my mother. She said she told the landlord already. It looked like no one care why it’s beeping. I felt the best position for me is to wait for the neighbors upstairs to turn it off or something. I think about my dad again. When he was alive, our family life had a backbone, a centre, and a person to rely on. Now he is gone, everything seems so disorienting, so lacklustre and so drab. When I was in the high school, I went to a bookstore with my friend from the boarding schools I attended before high school, Li Tao, on her birthday. She provoked me to steal books. I ignored her but then decided to shut her up. So I stole a book with her. The security got us and took us to their office asking about our details. I was scared that they would report to schools. But then they decided to let it go and let us leave too. I got really upset with Li Tao after we were outside. We parted ways. I went back home. And I saw the securities at the gate of the hainan university where my dad worked as a professor and we lived. I felt nervous and scared for a second because their blue uniform looked like police. Then I forgot about it. Then years later after I was in the university in Canada. Li Tao contacted me again on qq. She told me she had a baby. Out of politeness I asked to see her baby’s picture. She showed it to me. It’s all red and wrinkly. I hesitated to say her baby was cute. But then I decided to tell some white lies. So I told her her baby looked cute. She was really upset. Then we hung up on each other. We never talked since. She also mentioned how she hung out with chuyao fang, one of our classmates at Haikou jingshan school in Beijing. She said she paid for their meals with easily a few hundred yuan in her purse. I found them disturbing. Their relationships seemed to be purely for vain purposes and showing off how their parents were rich enough to give them a lot of money. It’s quite ingenious how she found excuses for giving birth at such a young age suggesting it’s all about being happy or competing who was happiest. Etc.
