Sandy Lake, Hong Kong

I met Xiaodan Wang in Sichuan university when we’re studying there. She was very tenacious in terms of trying to get me to be her friends. We hung out together and she got herself transferred to our dorm. Since then, troubles have started to find us everywhere we go. Then we both saw the UPEI transfer exchange program. She said she was going to apply. I decided to apply too. I had never been abroad before that. The only impression I had about Canada was my primary school friend, Liu Xi, making patriarchal comments about how Canada was stronger and New Zealand very weak. In the end we both got into the program which promised immigration and work. After schools, I did research assistant job, and a lot of extracurricular activities in drama and theatre. Sometimes I went back to see her Facebook and found her cheering for me during that period of time. Then I got married to Alex Banman who was renting the same building as me. I got to stay in Canada after I applied for PR. She had to leave because the job she had at the Sandy Lake wouldn’t sponsor her anymore. We kept in touch until after 2020. I believe it’s those protests in Hong Kong had divided our friendship. And also she gave birth too. Was she married to her coworker boyfriend? I was wondering about that nonstop.
