Perfect blue is about a woman searching her way in life without regards of rumours, pasts and concerned about being famous. It has made her vulnerable subject in the film facing an increasingly volatile rape culture. The pop star mima becomes an actress. It’s clearly more money. And she has been substantially exploited and raped in the proceedings even she defended herself in the end. People like me thought the ending was too soft on criminals and rapists. They got killed just by being in the movies and outside of the movies. It’s a terrible scene that people invested in their feelings and movements. This made me think of Taylor Swift. Her success to rally up white and cis gendered women everywhere. Even her praise for her rival phoebe bridger, who just got a praise in the New Yorker, suggests a deeply troubled persona bringing her bad experiences in life. She got married. Oh my god who cares? Etc. I scream WHORE.
