I was a girl who was sent to live in Chongqing. People wondered what those formative years did to me. It made me realize I’m an individual who has needs. I often went on a single trip to the convenience store on the street to buy manga. I read a horror story collection in one sitting. The cover art of a disembodied woman’s hand still gave me creeps. Later my dad came to visit. He took me on a rollercoaster. I was really scared. Then he found out he lost his wallet. That also made me scared. Was I the reason he lost his wallet? He didn’t blame it on me. But still I felt guilty. Then they took me back to Haikou after the kindergarten was finished. Was I a better person?
