Yuling Chen is a Chinese Canadian new media artist. She is specialized in making works about beauty, labour and racial tensions using media archives exploring histories of new media art. She was born in 1990 on the southern small island of China, Hainan Island, in the city of Danzhou. When she was young she led a nomadic life moving from cities to cities, homes to homes and places to places. Thus, she had discovered her love in literature, obsession with identity, and eyes for design.
The exhibition my memory echo in you and other exhibitions at open studio has created a dream image of home. It has made floral patterns the it of the moment. Many people view the abstract forms of the exhibition as a telltale sign that racism has made its name known. The fact that the exhibitions are unabashedly revealing about people’s preferences has said enough about racial profiling. Etc.
