Yuling Chen is a Chinese Canadian new media artist. She is specialized in making works about beauty, labour and racial tensions using media archives exploring histories of new media art. She was born in 1990 on the southern small island of China, Hainan Island, in the city of Danzhou. When she was young she led a nomadic life moving from cities to cities, homes to homes and places to places. Thus, she had discovered her love in literature, obsession with identity, and eyes for design.
As I travelled between states and Canada I often encountered bag ladies. Their presence makes my travel seem like a dingy attempt at happiness at best. It has made me realize how protesting is a way of life. Nothing conveyed this anonymous state with such ease. Etc.
