Cotton Socks

Poem

Ladies in black had too much to bear

They shopped on the newspaper for

Cotton socks embellished with

Trinkets and jewels

I strived to make a flowery pattern on

My hands

It is a beautiful reminder

Of marriageable ladies in the parlours

Iced coffee soaked cotton socks’

Edges, that’s hard to believe

Arabic spoken like bureaus’

Languages.
