Dusk

Flash fiction

Novella

Natalie eats another dish of noodles and salted plums. It is dusk. Everybody gets home early in the New York City. She is all alone in her enjoyment of drinking and eating. It’s hard to say who has the upper hand in this situation. A man comes into the restaurant. They look at each other in alarms. He comes towards her. She asks, “where are we going after this?” He replies, “to Empire State Building I presume.” “Oh that will ruin my plan of staying in Chinatown.” Natalie says. After the dinner they walk together towards the Empire State Building. The dusk is purple.
