Yunnan
I went to Dali, yunnan in 2009. The scenery was beautiful. Locals sold food in the stores. I walked around the old town and went to an inn sleeping alone for a day. I realized now that’s how travellers gonna work these days, even before. My classmates, such as qirou yang, etc. , from OCAD university also went to yunnan and took photographs there. It’s clear they saw a different yunnan than I did. It’s all bleak and poor like the deep dark water of the lake. The economy was no good. The Chinese president xi jinping talked about making yunnan a tourist city giving money to it so its economy grows. And strangers on the streets also talked about various places such as Istanbul, turkey. That’s what yunnan was to me. It’s the small towns. It’s the backpackers. It’s stores that sell rice cakes or some sort of local food. Travel is a lonely mission. It entails always keeping an eye out for yourself. I wonder how the city would change in the coming years. Etc.
