The exhibition it takes spirals to feed the spirals by xuan ye at MoCA in Toronto in 2022 reveals a worrying mentality about grammars. It criticizes Israel Palestine conflicts, wars, Venezuela and other events through videos and augmented reality software. The exhibition focuses on China, US, Canada, Australia and UK’s crackdown on protests and speeches through COVID 19 lockdowns. The images of spirals show that people are anxious about the futures. It also reveals that everything was made up in order to control people’s movements, speeches and works. Basically one can do whatever one feels like. In this period, I lived in Scarborough and saw my supposedly passed away father at the Scarborough civic centre. They looked exactly the same except he had pairs of good legs. I started to wonder whether it’s my works’ impacts on China, and other countries making he and my mother who lied about him being dead divorced and made things up in order to placate the dictators. She turned out just an old woman who were worried about being ditched, abandoned or thrown away. What should I do now as the lies and made up things were nonstop? My classmates also made things up about themselves being with random people, going to grad schools, having jobs, getting me to write about love notes, people from Hong Kong, people we clubbed with, people who texted them, people who had Instagram presence. This was absurdity at its best. It’s like the spirals on the screens that represented China and China’s economic growth. Etc.
