Olivia Rodrigo’s new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, depicts teenage angst through a youthful position of clarity. Her music videos show a world of romance, luxury and love. Running around in the park has become so punk it looks effortless. I like several of her songs, drop dead, stupid songs and my way. She used her songs to her advantage. She cared about planned parenthood. Her songs are all illuminating a political landscape increasingly hostile towards women. But that doesn’t stop Rodrigo from singing her hearts out. She is inspired. She looks awesome. The songs are also quite clever. Etc.
