I feel like ageism in the art world is so fake. There is not real ageism except in Hollywood. Most people just shift to different careers and jobs as they get older. Other people rarely discriminate older people in an industry. In fact they value them and their insights. They value their experiences. You don’t rely on your youth to make works. You rely on something more mystical than age. A grasp of artistic talent as grammars. Your voice matters more than your age. That’s the lesson I learned anyway. In the Hollywood that’s a different story. People regard you less if you age past certain roles. That’s when discrimination starts. It’s quite crude to be honest. The producers find you less promising in some way related to the box office. In other industries people age and age well. They get more respected in that way. Etc.
