Yuling Chen is a Chinese Canadian new media artist. She is specialized in making works about beauty, labour and racial tensions using media archives exploring histories of new media art. She was born in 1990 on the southern small island of China, Hainan Island, in the city of Danzhou. When she was young she led a nomadic life moving from cities to cities, homes to homes and places to places. Thus, she had discovered her love in literature, obsession with identity, and eyes for design.
The exhibition, Melissa Auf der Maur, my 90s rock photographs, at ago shows women at different stage of undress. The pyramid and television stacking on top each other showing glitchy videos tell the story of unsustainable rock stardom. It connects the artist to a string of luxury experience and products playing music, opening a concert and taking planes. However perfect it might be, the show refuses to say which side they are on when it comes to the protests. Etc.
