Review

Yuling Chen

People are up close and personal. The exhibition Roy Lichtenstein… and other exhibitions at the Whitney museum of American Art refrain from speaking about authority. It’s recluse nature of setting a world stage in a backward view has encouraged a newly renewed patriotism. The prints depict men, women and animals in the simplistic setting that suggests luxury. Its affiliation with advertising and entertaining industries in America has created an intensifying viewing lens shedding lights on modern sensibilities. What grabs people’s attention is the fact that exhibitions are whispering intellectualized thought to the viewers. Can the American identity be another weapon at hands?
